Purpose of programme
If the purpose is restoration of the nutrients lost through
milling, only those nutrients would be included - and to the levels that would
provide the nutrients up to the natural levels in wheat and maize.
If the purpose is to make up for all or part of dietary
deficiencies in the target population, the average consumption levels in
the population must be known. The shortfall to be covered may vary, depending
on the dietary requirement values used (e.g the US Institute of Medicine
Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) or the Estimated Average Requirement
determined by FAO/WHO, or national values.
